From Return to Refuge: The changing dynamics of Afghan Migration after August 2021

DRC

Bodhi conducted research on the changing dynamics of Afghan migration following August 2021, in support of the Mixed Migration Centre (MMC) Asia and the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Diaspora Programme. The study investigated evolving migration patterns, focusing on routes, contextual factors, information gaps, and self-identified needs of Afghan migrants. We also explored potential future developments in migration trends. Our team employed a mixed-methods approach, combining a comprehensive desk review of relevant literature and secondary data with key informant interviews. This research aimed to provide insights into the post-August 2021 Afghan migration landscape, informing policy and programmatic responses to support Afghan migrants and refugees.
