Environmental Peacebuilding

UN Environment

Bodhi identified critical environmental security issues in eight conflict-prone countries and regions: Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, the Lake Chad Region, Syria, Iraq, Israel-Palestine, and Yemen. The study analysed how environmental factors contribute to conflict dynamics and identified potential entry points for UN Environment to implement effective environmental peacebuilding initiatives. This project aimed to address the increasingly recognised role of environmental challenges as key drivers and exacerbators of conflict worldwide.
